Computer
Club
We
are now offering a new ICT teaching initiative for children with
learning disabilities or a functional disability.
Designed
to match the capabilities and needs of each individual student activities/lessons
reinforce competence in key curriculum areas, increase understanding
of concepts and develop critical thinking skills essential to success
in school and beyond.
One
of the first elements the children can be taught is touch typing.
This will help them find their way around the keyboard in readiness
for more technical applications. They will also have the opportunity
to develop skills in digital photography and video recording and
editing.
The
lessons are based on having fun while using the latest Multimedia
computer technology and an Interactive Whiteboard to bring to life
the core National Curriculum in one hour sessions. They can also
develop skills in story development, desktop publishing, and word
processing, along with an understanding of computers and keyboard
skills.
Some
of the programmes used may already be familiar to the children,
as they have been carefully chosen to match those currently in use
in local schools.
The
lessons will be a brilliant investment and benefit their future
by not only giving them a head start in ICT but also to help extend
their memory and concentration spans and improve their logic. They
will also encourage children who need regular routines to continue
these routines but in a different environment.
Every
child that comes to us will have an assessment/record card that
is filled in as they progress. Any certificates gained can be presented
at school assembly.
Morning,
afternoon and evening classes are available for small groups of
three to four children and their parents/carers from nursery onwards,
with regular assessment and progression to higher levels.
We
are also running weekly IT Fun Sessions on Monday and Thursday evenings
between 4pm and 7pm. There is currently no charge although parents/carers
are required to remain with their children.

Anyone
interested in attending one our IT sessions, should contact Diana
on 07841 329747 or SNAP on 01543 579286 for further
information.
