Outdoor Facilities
These
two photographs depict two of the items of specialised equipment
that are provided at SNAP.

In
addition to this highly specialised equipment SNAP
also provides an aerial runway and more conventional adventure play
items for those with greater physical ability. Although these are
more conventional they have the facility to allow access by people
with physical disabilities including enabling carers to assist by
having, for instance, a 1.5 metre wide slide thereby enabling a
carer to sit alongside the child.

The
centre also has a cycle track where those children who are not restricted
in movement can use the bicycles provided, some of which are special
adaptations, to hone their balancing and motor skills. The cycle
track has a dual purpose as it will also feature road markings thereby
offering the opportunity to undertake some road safety awareness
with the children.
Our
sensory garden offering children an opportunity to get in touch
with nature. The garden incorporates a range of plants giving a
variety of smells and touch.

Again
with safety in mind EPDM wet pour safety surfacing is installed
under all the outdoor equipment to a depth of 80 MM ensuring that
falls and trips have only minor consequences.
Any play area worthy of mention will have a section devoted to sand
play. SNAP goes one better than just a cordoned
off area filled with sand and includes sit on excavators.
